It might as well be, for all I am concerned. Tomorrow marks the last day of work before Christmas/for the year — one of my favourite days of the year.

In case you do not know if today is Christmas Day, the website http://isitchristmas.com/ can serve as a handy reference for you. Be sure to check back daily! Thanks to Ryan for the tip.

CBC showed back to back “Christmas Classics” tonight — “Frosty the Snowman”, followed by its apparent successor “Frosty Returns”. The former is a classic, having been on the air for almost 40 years, and something I remember watching Way Back When. However this sequel I have never had the privilege of watching before today. A badly drawn snow melting corporate suit as a villain? Environmental pollution concerns? That was thirty festive minutes I will never get back — sadly this show will be branded a classic by virtue of the fact that it will air every year on tv as Christmas Filler for the next 40 years, however there is nothing about it that stands out as a holiday treasure like its predecessor. Even the Spongebob Squarepants Christmas Special holds up well enough to show that new content can go down as something worth watching annually.

If I had a magic hat, it would erase “Frosty Returns” from the archives.

I bought a small electric snow shovel, and yesterday provided enough snow to try it out. Seconds after I started finding my extension cords, the neighbour across the road fires up his proper gasoline powered snow blower. “ROAR!” Mine starts up — “bweeeeeee” and its like a mosquito versus a semi. Not 15 seconds into my inaugural push did I successfully tangle up my extension cord into the thing, so its just as well I didn’t have something would have chopped the cord into twenty pieces (and a good thing nobody was around to see that).

Overall, its more like shaving the snow off the sidewalk than it is shoveling it. But its better than all the lifting, so I’ll take it!
