I was lucky enough to see a taping of the Price is Right last year which, as expected, was awesome. At the end of the show they plugged a relatively new book covering tales from and the history of the show that has been the cornerstone of game-show pop culture for over thirty years. While I am not one for souvenirs much, I knew what I wanted as a souvenir for this trip.

Come on Down!: Behind the Big Doors at the Price is Right is a great combination of what you would experience at a live taping, some commentary on the behind-the-scenes action during taping, and some anecdotal tales from the show’s rich history. An enjoyable read!

I read this book mostly during the plane flight over to New Zealand, and liked it a lot.  It is one person’s recollection of growing up in North Korea, and a prison camp which many are subject to in that country.  I am pretty curious about how things are run in North Korea, mostly because it is pretty close curtained to the rest of the world, and this book provided a curious insight.  Here is a link to this book on Amazon.ca
